    Gilbert Baker Wiki, Biography, Death, Rainbow Flag; Gilbert Baker is a famous American icon. He was an artist, an activist for the gay rights in the USA and the designer of the Rainbow Flag which came up in 1978. Born on 2nd June 1951 in Kansas, USA, Baker was a son to a judge.

    Baker joined the US armed forces and served from 1970 till 1972, further which he joined hands with the Gay Rights Movement. He was taught to sew by his companion. Soon, Baker expertise in the same and started making his contribution towards the Movement by making banners for them.

    He worked with the US National Sister’s Society and served his duty as a veteran Army officer in favor of all the gays in the US. Gilbert didn’t even trademark the Rainbow Flag which he designed and prepared by 1978.

    Baker linked the flag with LGBT Community and started working for the Paramount Flag Company. He designed flags for Dianne Feinstein, the presidents of France, Venezuela, and the Philippines, the King of Spain, and many others. Baker also created designs for numerous civic and civil events and San Francisco Gay Pride. In 1984, Baker prepared flags for the US Democratic National Convention.

    Baker moved to New York City in 1994, where he lived until he died. Here, he continued his creative work and activism for Gay Rights. That year only, Gilbert processed the world’s largest flag of 20th Century in observation of the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots of 1969.

    To mark the 25th Anniversary of Commonwealth Games in 2003, Gilbert created a large Rainbow flag stretching all the way from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. He specified 100 cities across the USA for the purpose of the same.

    Baker died a peaceful death while asleep on 31st March 2017 at the age of 65 in his home in New York City. Baker had done numerous contributions towards the flag arts. His experience and expertise in the same have given the world The Rainbow Flag.

    The Rainbow flag is one of it’s kind. Resembling a perfect Rainbow, the flag had all the colors of Rainbow VIBGYOR, all of which represented some special life element. He was indeed a perfect artist who is famous for his work on flags designing and creation.

    The achievements of Baker can’t be compiled without considering his significant role as an active activist in the Gay Movement of USA. He represented the Sister’s Society as well alongside and was also an army officer in US Army for 2 years.
